On a memorable day, June 29, 2023, the mayor of San Pedro Sula, Mr. Roberto Contreras, and his distinguished wife, Mrs. Zoila de Contreras, demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the well-being and development of our community. Through an exceptionally generous donation of L.500,000 on behalf of the Municipality of San Pedro Sula, they have significantly strengthened the operations and impact of Project Uremu, our beloved non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of young people in at-risk areas through musical education.
This noble gesture not only highlights the mayor's and the first lady's commitment to the cultural and social growth of San Pedro Sula but also reflects their vision of youth empowerment. Through art and education, they provide our youth with the necessary tools to thrive and make a positive impact on our society. The donation received has been a catalyst that allowed us to ensure the livelihood of our dedicated teachers, acquire new musical instruments, and make it possible for a select group of our students to shine in the Simanoff Tour, taking their talent and the essence of our city to stages in Italy and France.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to the Municipality of San Pedro Sula for this act of solidarity that transcends material support. This donation has allowed us not only to continue our mission of bringing music and hope to our city but also to generate tangible change in our society. Thanks to this support and that of all our benefactors, we have managed to change the lives of more than 200 families, an achievement that resonates in their communities, our city, and therefore, in our entire country.
At Project Uremu, we are committed to continuing our collaboration in cultural and social activities in San Pedro Sula, bringing joy and hope to all Sampedranos who love music.
